Weltrend’s USB Power Delivery Controllers Achieve USB-IF Certification
2017-03-07
Hsinchu, Taiwan, March 7, 2017 – Weltrend Semiconductor (TAIEX: 2436) today announced that its USB Power Delivery (PD) controller chipsets, WT6632F and WT6615F, passed the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) certification test for USB Type-CTM Downstream Facing Port (Source) applications. The Weltrend controllers passed the full set of compliance tests at the recently held USB-IF Compliance Workshop event in Silicon Valley, California. |
Weltrend’s USB PD controllers address a broad set of market segments for the emerging USB Type-C products including power adapters for USB Type-C based notebooks, 2-in-1s, tablets, and smartphones as well as USB Type-C based accessories such as car chargers, power banks, power strips, docking stations and dongles. |
The WT6632F and WT6615F support USB PD 3.0 specification designed for USB Type-C power source applications while WT6615F also supports the latest USB PD Programmable Power Supply (PPS) specification which is typically used for Sink Directed Charge of the battery in mobile devices. |
Weltrend’s USB PD controllers adopt high-voltage process and minimize external components by integrating USB PD baseband PHY, Type-C cable detection, shunt regulator, voltage and current monitors, control circuits of blocking MOSFET, and an MCU to allow small form factor and low BOM cost. It supports wide operation voltage range from 3V to 30V without the need of an external LDO. A programmable ROM is provided for program code and user configuration data. |
